“This online workshop explores the recognition of our own biases and how they implicitly reveal themselves while interpreting. The previewing of videos, group activities, introspective journal writing and group discussions will be incorporated into the workshop.”
This workshop will provide .3 PPO CEUs and 3 contact hours for Maine licensure.
Presenter: Suzanne Lightbourn, B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso, Masters in Social Work from New Mexico State University. Originally from El Paso, Texas and now resides in San Diego, California. Ms. Lightbourn has been a freelance American Sign Language interpreter for over 35 years specializing in Legal interpreting as well as Medical, Theatrical, and Trilingual Interpretation.
Pronouns are She, Her, Hers and is part of the LGBTQIA and BIPOC communities. Ms. Lightbourn holds National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf Certifications, CI, CT, NIC-M, SC:L and Texas BEI certifications Level IV and Legal. Ms. Lightbourn is a PhD student at Gallaudet University in the Department of Interpretation and Translation.
